FALSE is an esoteric programming language designed by Wouter van Oortmerssen in 1993, named after his favorite Boolean value. It is a small Forth-like stack-oriented language, with syntax designed to make the code inherently obfuscated, confusing, and unreadable. It is also noteworthy for having a compiler of only 1024 bytes. According to Van Oortmerssen, FALSE provided the inspiration for various well-known esoteric languages, including brainfuck and Befunge. FALSE is notably more tractable than most esoteric programming languages. The fundamental operations that it provides are reasonably sensible, and there is no gratuitous complexity. In these respects it stands in strong contrast to the behemoths Intercal and Malbolge. The difficulty of programming in FALSE comes mostly from the low-level nature of the language, which has the feel of a Forth-like assembly language. The remainder of the language’s awkwardness comes from the concise punctuation-based syntax, which many people find more difficult than a more conventional word-based syntax. The language features basic arithmetic and logical operations, variables, subroutines, control flow statements, and input/output operations. FALSE operations are done using a stack. Its structure is largely based on the Forth programming language.

I will share with you a little bit about him. I want to let you know, I told you last week that we would be talking this week about persecution in Latin America.
(0:00:54) We were actually going to call an audible. We’re going to change gears because of what is happening in Iran right now. I just felt like it was so important and it’s such a pivotal time in that country that I wanted to share what’s happening. And Dr. Mike Ansari is one of the great experts who can help us unpack what’s going on, help us unpack how it is affecting our Christian brothers and sisters in Iran. So we are going to talk about Latin America, but it’s going to be next week. It’s not going to be this week.
(0:01:22) pleased me back then to hear that, but we want to talk about Iran today. Dr. Mike Ansari is the outgoing CEO of Heart for Iran, so he has been with us before representing Heart for Iran. His season of service there is about to come to an end, and he’s moving into new things. He is also a board member of the World Iranian Christian Alliance, and we’re going to talk about what that is, how it came to be, how it is helping the church in Iran, and
(0:01:51) And he is also an independent business and development consultant. So he’s helping foundations, helping ministries in development and organizational health. His book is called Heart for Iran, The Forbidden Stories, telling the stories of Iranian Christians. So I would recommend that to you.
(0:02:08) Dr. Mike Ansari, welcome back to Voice of the Martyrs Radio. Hello, and thank you so much for having me. It’s a pleasure to be here. Mike, it seems like Iran was really big in the news right around the turn of the new year. You know, after Christmas, into New Year’s, it’s like, oh, there’s protests going on all over the country.
(0:02:26) It seems like it a little bit has died down and maybe we’re bringing it back to people’s attention this weekend. But give us a little bit of background. How did this particular round of upheaval start? What’s going on? The people who are protesting in the streets, what do they want?
(0:02:43) The latest uprising, which has been marked as the biggest uprising since 1979, Iran’s revolution, started on December 28, 2025. And that was mainly because of the severe economic collapse and repression.
(0:02:59) As a result, in most of the provinces across Iran, there were people protesting, and there was a very natural, organic uprising. This was not influenced by any outside influencers. It was not influenced by any faction.
(0:03:14) It was just people just took on the street and they had lost their pension. They had lost their savings. The economy had collapsed. Iran had been using the petroleum money, the oil rich resources to export Shiite Islam to the neighboring countries. And people just had had enough. So Iranian governments did not want to deal with that. So thousands of civilians were killed.
(0:03:41) And there was a nationwide internal shutdown. As far as the human toll on civilians is concerned, it is important for us to know that Iranian authorities use live ammo, ammunition used by security forces. They even brought in…
(0:03:59) few hundred Iraqi militia members to basically put the uprising down. Children and non-protesters were among the victims. And some of the reports that are coming out are saying potentially as many as 36,000 people have been killed. So people say the numbers are higher. And the mass arrests are exceeding 42,000. So that is what we’re dealing with.
(0:04:26) The uprising, yes, you’re correct. The streets have calmed down, but people are still very much angry. Iranian authorities apparently are going to the hospitals and taking out the wounded protesters and taking them away. Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei basically gave the order to shoot to kill
(0:04:50) And the head of Iran’s judiciary also said that he was recommending that Iranian judiciary should execute all the arrested protesters to make an example out of them for Iran. So the conditions are pretty bad. There are pictures that are coming out from Iran showing the people, you know, they’re killed in body bags. It’s very interesting. We also had some communication coming from inside Iran
(0:05:18) A lot of the loved ones are missing. Parents, friends are looking for people that are potentially killed in the protests, but they cannot find them.
(0:05:29) We had one report coming from one of our viewers saying that they gave us a specific location saying that there was a mass grave and bodies were there just left out there in a remote area. So the news that’s coming out of Iran is one of violence. The regime ayatollahs basically becoming very concerned that this is their lifeline and this is an existential threat
(0:05:56) for them. So they are doing all they can to put down the protesters as fast as they can. A couple of years ago, we saw the protests, lots of protests in the streets after the young lady was killed in police custody. Is it different this time or and maybe how is it different this time? Do you sense that this is
(0:06:17) more people are upset or they’re more upset than they were before, or there are just more cities involved? Or is this another chapter in kind of what we have seen before? And do you think the government will eventually kind of put a lid on it and crush it as they have in the past?
(0:06:34) Well, we’ve seen that each uprising that’s taking place in Iran is becoming more violent. It’s becoming more serious. You know, you’re right. With Mahsa Amini, the lady that was killed, which led to the huge movement, Women’s Life Freedom,
(0:06:49) It was one of those turning moments. But before that, in the last eight or nine years, there have been different episodes of uprising. We saw one during the term of President Obama, where there was an organic uprising. Each one is becoming more organic, and it reflects that the people in Iran are disillusioned with their government.
(0:07:12) They’re disillusioned also with Islam, which we’re going to talk about in a minute. But overall, the satisfaction runs very deep among different demographics across Iran. And this time in particular, the people in the bazaar, in the market, which really is the economic lifeline of Iran, took on a strike and they said enough is enough. They’re losing their livelihood and the economy is in a very bad shape.
(0:07:41) We’re talking this week on Voice of the Martyrs Radio with Dr. Mike Ansari. He is a board member on the World Iranian Christian Alliance. We’re going to talk a little bit about that. And just for some context, we are recording this on Wednesday morning, January 28th. So things are changing rapidly. And so we want to set that kind of time frame so you understand that.
(0:08:02) So, Mike, how is this affecting our Christian brothers and sisters in Iran? If I’m a Bible study leader or maybe the pastor of a house church and these protests break out across the country, what does my life look like? Do I have to start looking over my shoulder even more than usual? Or how does that work for our Christian brothers and sisters there?
(0:08:24) Within the last few years, every time and any time there is an uprising, the Christian convert population, which is very much in hiding and in underground, some of them have been identified by Iranian intelligence. They are the first ones that are actually being persecuted.
(0:08:40) So the Christian converts in this last uprising that started on December 28th and continued for about three weeks and it still is moving forward. We’re getting news of severe persecution of Christian population. Christian converts are being framed as security threats. Hundreds have been arrested and sentenced. Women and families are heavily targeted. You remember this, that the house churches have been and are still declared illegal.
(0:09:10) Their homes are being raided. Bibles are being confiscated. What you and I consider as freedom of speech does not exist in Iran. It is illegal to gather as a convert to Christianity because you’re not recognized. It’s heresy. Therefore, you cannot form a church. If you meet in your home, in the sanctity of your home, your homes are usually raided.
(0:09:33) and then bibles are illegal in iran so anybody who actually has bible their bibles are confiscated interesting again i think we shared this last time on your show on your program that iran has been intentionally printing false bibles supporting the coming of the 12th imam in shiite islam and then therefore this the the believers are being pressured to inform on others because of the pressure
(0:10:00) amid all this protest believers beginning reports from inside Iran the last three weeks a lot of believers Christian converts are aiding injured civilians they are bringing them into their homes Christians are being arrested and being wounded and yet faith in Christ appears to be spreading through acts of mercy
(0:10:21) We also just recently got this news that Mr. Mohsen Rashidi, a 42-year-old Christian convert, husband and a father of three girls, has been confirmed among the many thousands of protesters killed in recent days. Incidentally, he was shot from behind while attempting to recover the body of a close friend who was killed during the demonstration in Baharistan, Esfahan.
(0:10:45) on the 9th of January, and he died after being prevented from entering the local hospital. News is slowly coming out. We could confirm that at least seven other Iranian Christians that have converted to Christianity are on the list of people that have been killed. We suspect that number is going to increase.
(0:11:07) Remember, this uprising is not a Christian uprising. It is an organic mass uprising of all Iranians against their regime and government.
(0:11:19) I think it’s interesting that you said Christians are targeted really at the front end of this. Like, Hey, we’ve been watching these house churches and now we have an excuse to arrest them. So great. Let’s go. Let’s arrest all is that. Am I hearing you correctly that that’s kind of the attitude of this is an excuse. Now we can arrest a bunch of people and, and not really have to explain ourselves. Yeah.
(0:11:46) It’s a perfect excuse for them to go ahead and get rid of anybody they see is not fit. So you’re correct. We are seeing that they are among one of the first tier of people who are being persecuted. We’re talking this week on Voice of the Martyrs Radio with Dr. Mike Ansari. He is a board member of the World Iranian Christian Alliance.
(0:12:08) Mike, let’s talk about this alliance. Kind of tell me, because this is a pretty new thing for different churches, different church groups within Iran and without to kind of come together for cooperation. And I think one of the reasons for that, you mentioned it, is when the police come to you, they ask you for the names of other Christians. And so—
(0:12:30) How closely do you want to be in fellowship with other Christians when that puts you at risk in that situation? So talk a little bit about overcoming some of those barriers and creating the World Iranian Christian Alliance and your involvement in that process. That’s correct. Yes. Let me share with you. Meaningful work is not done by individual voices. Right.
(0:12:55) In any movement that is meaningful, that has impact and is scalable and will last a long time, you see a deliberate unity of different voices coming together. They put aside their differences, their individualities, and they realize that together they’re stronger.
(0:13:13) And since we’re seeing a huge movement of God among Iranians, both in diaspora and inside Iran, many, many thousands of Iranians have come to Christ, both in diaspora outside of Iran and in Iran.
(0:13:29) We’re seeing a huge multiplication of the churches and the congregations that are organically coming together and forming an entity, a spiritual entity where they’re finding hope in Jesus Christ. Many of these organizations decided to come together. This whole thing got started about a couple of years ago.
(0:13:51) And the focus and objective is strengthening and deepening unity among Iranian Christians, both inside and in diaspora, for the expansion of the kingdom of God among Iranians worldwide. So it is a global alliance, advancing unity, cooperation, and trusted public voice for Iranian Christians up until now.
(0:14:12) We have not had that trusted public voice. There has been a lot of fragmentation. There has been a lot of denominational zeal, if you would. But we strongly believe that God is ushering Iranians into a season of accuracy where we are coming together from different backgrounds, different denominations, understanding that something big,
(0:14:34) And something anointed is taking place in a spiritual realm. And we need to make sure that we are advancing that for Iran and Iranians. So World in Iran Christian, Iranian Christian Alliance is that entity. It’s a young entity. And the group of leaders have come together and they’re embracing each other in love, in kindness.
(0:14:59) This is a beautiful representation of what could happen also in the secular world among Iranians. Unless we come together in love, forgiveness, and unity, we’re not going to see lasting change in Iran or, for that matter, for any other part in the world.
(0:15:16) Amen. And I concur with that. At Voice of the Martyrs, we have found almost all of our work is through partnerships, through helping others, including Heart for Iran. That’s how you and I met, working together in some of those projects. And what is the goal of the Iranian Christian Alliance? Is it
(0:15:35) more just kind of oversight? Is it more cooperation? Is it more like a PR to be a voice for Iranian Christians? Is it all of those things? What are the objectives?
(0:15:47) I believe God is really the one who’s the author of what this entity is going to be mandated to do. But our original thought is to come together in supporting each other, in being one united voice for the Christians around the world. We want to go ahead and deepen unity among Iranian believers. And we want that to be a representation of
(0:16:15) a working model of Iranian unity outside of those of the faith sector. Iranians from different walks, different regions, different tongues, languages, people group can come together. So our goal is to be able to advance cooperation in helping support and sustain Christianity. Remember another fact is when a Muslim converts to Christianity
(0:16:45) they’re very much no longer validated in some of their communities in Iran or even in diaspora. There are isolated believers. There are marginalized. The term MBB, Muslim background believers, which is the vast majority of the fabric of the Iranian Christians,
(0:17:03) inside the country and in diaspora really is not validated by a lot of Christian organizations that are existing. Not that we feel we are second-rate citizens, but the reality is it is a new movement where we are seeing MBBs come together in numbers, in massive numbers.
(0:17:28) And regardless of their theological stance or denominational affiliation, there is something holy and anointed that is among this group. They love each other genuinely. They have suffered together. And the suffering of Christ to them is so relatable that they’re saying,
(0:17:50) we need to come together and celebrate the redemptive power of the blood of Jesus and share that good news with other Iranians who are suffering, who are disillusioned, who are hopeless. So World Iranian Christian Alliance
(0:18:05) is potentially that promising entity that could usher in a new season of God’s accuracy for Iranian people to come together. And remember this, once there is a change or transformation in Iranian political fabric,
(0:18:22) Organizations like World Iranian Christian Alliance are needed to be able to represent the highly persecuted Iranian Christian church that has been in hiding, has been decimated, has been persecuted, has been beaten.
(0:18:37) It still is alive. And the good news to your audience is, yes, we are beaten. Yes, we are persecuted. But we’re stronger than ever before. Yes, Iranian church right now is dealing with this existential threat. But we feel that God is at work. And that is a promising thing. You know, the word of God, Corinthians says, for just as the body is one and has many members and all the members of the body,
(0:19:07) Though many are one body, so it is with Christ. We don’t see ourselves as Iranian Christians as better than the rest of Iranians. No, we are part of that body. And we want to do our part. We want to do our share. We want Iranian people that are not Christians to know that we love each other. We love them.
(0:19:28) And our goal is not to come there to evangelize to them, to say, oh, we’re going to force you to, now you leave Islam and come to Christ. We don’t want to force them from one religion to another. We just want to love them with the love of Christ, which is the genuine, most authentic form of love the world has ever seen. So we want to do our part as faithful body of Christ, and yet,
(0:19:57) productive members of Iranian society.
(0:20:00) who really love and care for Iran and Iranians, no matter what their background is and where they’re coming from. Amen. (0:20:48) How can we pray specifically right now for what’s going on in Iran and especially for the church, for the house church, the underground church, the people, you know, as you mentioned, several Christians have been killed. So we have families who have lost loved ones. But give us some really specific ways to pray right now with what’s happening in Iran. I will share with your audience four prayer points.
(0:21:12) and then one appeal. The best way for the church, for each one of us as followers of Christ to pray for this dilemma is to, number one, pray for protection for believers in Iran. Number two, pray for restraint for underground churches. Number three, pray for comfort for families. And number four, pray for wisdom for global leaders. I would like to
(0:21:41) urge your audience and your listeners to understand that despite the fact, the negativity that we hear about Iran and Iranians, Iranians are noble people. They’re loving people. They don’t want to fight. Iranians are not evil. And we ask you to pray for them. In fact, talking about the church in Iran, it is in such a peril and such a crisis in
(0:22:10) that is probably dealing with this existential condition right now, situation right now. Any prayer, any support, if you see a credible organization raising funds for this crisis, please lend the support to them. I always tell my friends, $10 buys us a coffee at Starbucks and potentially a scone, but $10 can go a long way in supporting a family of persecuted and the church in Iran.
(0:22:39) Is the church in America, are we willing to let go of one morning coffee so that we could go ahead and send that proceed to support? Great commission is not an optional recommendation that Jesus gave us. It is a command. Therefore, we would like to invite the body of Christ,
(0:23:01) Americans, the Europeans, anybody who’s a Christian around the world, to adopt Iran in their prayers, in their church, in their families, especially these days. And if there are ways for your church or yourself to help support God’s work in Iran, and you have identified a legitimate, valid entity through which you could provide the support, please do so. We thank you so much for your prayers for Iran and Iranians.
(0:23:28) We thank you for your prayers for God’s work across the Middle East. And it’s not just Iran we’re talking about. The church in Yemen is growing. The believers in Iraq are coming together. Holy Spirit is on the move. Jesus is building his church once again after all this time in that region. Let us come together and lift that region up and celebrate God’s goodness.
